FAQs

is epoxy safe, and is it durable?

The professional-grade epoxies and top coats that we use are all FDA approved food-safe and appropriate for use in kitchens and high-traffic areas. Our epoxy is extremely durable and heat resistant - you could take a pass at it with a lighted blow torch (not that I’d recommend doing so for obvious reasons) and it would hold up just fine.

will my epoxy project change color over time?

This is one of the main questions and concerns that we come across surrounding epoxy-related projects. The biggest issue people often experience with ambering and color changes typically happens with white color-based projects, due to UV rays affecting the dye in the epoxy after the color has been poured. Over time, a white surface (especially if not utilizing a high-end top coat and additional flood coat, which we do) will eventually denature and obtain an amber coloring when exposed to UV rays. If a customer still requests a white-colored project, we’ll do everything we can to help blunt this process - we’ll use our professional products that are much more resistant to ambering/color changes, utilize our additional protective coat of epoxy, and purposefully blend a bit of gray/amber color into the dye so that it in theory helps to train the eye not to notice the color change as much. As a result of this, darker colors are much easier to utilize and don’t carry near the same concerns with color change.

Is there any demolition involved?

We specialize in not needing to perform traditional demolition (removing the original tile, countertop, or etc.) and with some additional prep work we can go directly on top of just about any surface you may have. We do need to utilize sanding to create a mechanical bond for the epoxy, but that’s where it ends.

Do you offer epoxy flooring?

At this time, we currently do not offer epoxy flooring. Our vision would be to expand in the future, but for now we’re focusing on countertops and other non-floor surfaces.

How long does a typical countertop take?

A typical countertop renovation can on average take five to six days. This can vary depending on how small/large the kitchen or item being worked on is.
